Mechanical & Industrial Engineer graduated from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. Currently, Victor is the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Project Manager of the ASPIRE project in UVG.
Also, he has worked in UVG also as a teacher, researcher and developing the laboratories of the department, implementing active learning methodologies in classes, introducing innovation for development and makerspaces, implementing an internationalization strategy, introducing aerospace engineering in Guatemala co-leading the development of Quetzal-1, a nanosatellite which is the first Guatemalan satellite sent to space, and promoting balance gender in Engineering through organizing the annual course “Women in Engineering”.
Before coming to UVG, Victor worked 13 years in Goodyear, both in the manufacturing plant and the sales department. During this time, he had the opportunity to work in different positions from quality assurance (as Quality Manager I was in charge of ISO9000) to sales (he was responsible of Goodyear sales in Honduras for one year). Victor also worked as a field engineer evaluating tires performance in all Central America and Dominican Republic and finally, as Goodyear Central America Product Manager.
